Proyecto Uno, also known as Project One, is a Dominican-American hip hop/Merengue house group that has revolutionized the music scene. Blending the infectious rhythms of Merengue with elements of techno, dancehall, reggae, and hip-hop/rap, they have created a unique and irresistible sound. Formed in 1989 in New York City’s East Side, Proyecto Uno was founded by Nelson Zapata and managed by Porfirio “Popi” Piña. Their innovative approach quickly gained recognition in the 1990s, winning them prestigious awards such as the Billboard Latin Music Awards and Premios Lo Nuestro, and even earning an Emmy award nomination. With Nelson Zapata leading the group with his captivating vocals, Proyecto Uno continues to captivate audiences. Joined by the dynamic Kid G and multi-talented Paolo Tondo, they deliver electrifying performances that get the crowd moving.
